Shining Star International School believes in the principle that a good liberal education is a participative process, in which the child is a key participant. In keeping with the spirit of this principle an interaction is done with the child. This facilitates the school in understanding the child’s readiness for the class to which he or she applied.
AGE CRITERIA
- KG1 – 4 years by 31st March for the new academic year
- KG2 – 5 years by 31st March for the new academic year for students who will be newly admitted
- Grade 1 – 6 years by 31st March for the new academic year for students who will be newly admitted
- Grade 2 and above – Admissions are based on the Transfer Certificate and Final Report Card of the previous year duly attested and stamped.
(Age criteria is not applicable for those students who are already studying in the UAE)
For the KG Section & G1.
- Selection process of students of KG & Gr.1 is direct assessment. The School committee interacts with the child and makes the final decision.
- Preferences are given to the siblings of existing students.
- Age stipulations are strictly observed and the parent is responsible for compliance as required.
- Admission is based on the age reached on 31st March of the year in which admission is sought.
- Age is based on the date mentioned in the legal passport or birth certificate.
For G2 – G9:
- Aptitude Tests are conducted. The Application Form with supporting documents have to be presented to the School Staff / examination in charge before attending the entrance test.
- Based on the information received from the entrance answer sheets, students and parents may be asked to meet with the senior leadership team.
- Common Entrance Test papers are set for subjects like English & Mathematics.
For G11: For entrance to Class XI, admission is considered on the basis of the Board’s result of Class X and the entrance test. Admission is subject to merit and vacancy.
Overseas candidates may come for the interaction after informing the Admissions Dept of their availability for the interaction if they are unable to come on the given date.

After the admission is taken, Admission slip (which includes details like Admin No, Class & Div., Parents Details etc.) and receipt of payment is handed over to the payer and the same is required to be presented by them on the first day of School and at the time of collecting books/uniform.
Emirates IDs (Student, Father, Mother) are scanned and the student is officially registered with the school through ADEC.
The parents meet the HOD/Class Teacher with the Admission Slip on the first day of School and they in turn introduce the student to his/her respective class.
Students start their journey of learning and growing with the school.

Parents must ensure that children arrive at the school every day on time. The School Timings for all students are as below –

Mid-term admissions are allowed and are subject to vacancies and also depends on submission of Transfer Certificate (TC) with the class of relevant continuation.
The child is admitted in the next class if he/she is joining in the beginning of a new academic year and possesses a passed and promoted Transfer Certificate (TC) from the previous school. If the child is moving in between the academic years then, he/she continues in the same class as currently pursuing.

SSIS Abu Dhabi campus offers CBSE (Indian Curriculum)
The new academic year for all classes begins in the month of April and closes in the month of March.
The safety and security of our students is of utmost concern. The school has an in-house security system in place at the school. The campus is monitored round-the-clock through CCTV installations, and security guards are present 24/7 in the school premises.
All visitors entering the campus are required to produce a proof of identification and receive a Visitor Pass from the Guard House. Unauthorized personnel are not granted access under any circumstances.
The school has an in-house medical care facility which is operated by a HAAD-qualified nurse at all times during the school hours. Basic first aid can be administered by the nurse. For major medical support, the student is taken to a nearby hospital in consultation with an on-call school doctor, and parents are intimated immediately.
Yes. The school has a qualified and experienced school counsellor who is professionally trained to help the students focus on academic career and social/emotional development. All discussions with the counsellors are strictly confidential.
The transport system ensures complete safety and security of every child. The details of bus routes, pick-up and drop-off points, time schedules and transportation fees communicated to the parents at the time of admission of students. The school buses are provided with female attendants and a GPS tracker.
Only school transportation and parents’ own transports are allowed within the campus. All decisions made by the Transport Operator as per the School Transport Policy are final. All buses have designated pick up and drop off points. An Operations Executive of the Transport Vendor is always available at the school and parents can meet the Executive during the school hours.
